Proving just how out of touch with the American people political
\npundits and news anchors have become, John McLaughlin, host of The
\nMcLaughlin Group, has declared the concept of freedom as the
\n\u201cmost overrated\u201d political issue of 2009.<\/p>\n

The host of the long running public affairs show made the announcement during The McLaughlin Group 2009 Year-End Awards special.<\/p>\n

While the rest of the panel on the show described global warming,
\nTreasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and leading bankers as \u201cmost
\noverrated\u201d, McLaughlin himself took a shot at the core concept
\nbehind the Bill Of Rights and the U.S. Constitution.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most overrated is freedom,\u201d McLaughlin said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen faced with economic uncertainty, people don\u2019t want
\nfreedom. When they can\u2019t see their economic future, they want the
\nnanny state.\u201d he blathered.<\/p>\n

<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

Seemingly McLaughlin was living under a rock throughout the
\n\u201csummer of rage\u201d then, as mass protests were held
\nthroughout the nation on every political issue going, including the
\neconomy.<\/p>\n

Neither has he been monitoring the president\u2019s recent approval
\nratings, which have hit record lows for a president after one year in
\noffice.<\/p>\n

McLaughlin must have also missed the recent news<\/a><\/strong>
\nthat a vast majority of Americans have expressed great dissatisfaction
\non virtually every single issue polled, once again including the
\neconomy.<\/p>\n

Perhaps Mr McLaughlin can show us some evidence to suggest the
\nAmerican people are happy living in a nanny state at the expense of
\ntheir freedom, because we don\u2019t see it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
