We got our hands on an anonymous Power Point file showing details of a soon to be released app they’re calling XTopMobile. It’s designed to make life a little easier for BlackBerry users who frequently find themselves toggling between handheld and PC.

I know what you’re asking yourself. Can a productivity app really be that interesting? Well, if you spent your Holidays stranded in a snow-bank in Colorado after blindly following your GPS into oblivion, you’d probably appreciate mobile applications that don’t try to tell you where to go.

No Wi-Fi, No Tether

XTop Mobile provides a window into your Smartphone from your PC. At first glance it looks like just another desktop messenger. But this one unifies all your favorite desktop messengers and then gives you deep access into your BlackBerry BIS and BES accounts. It should be handy for the traveling laptop user that finds Wi-Fi in short supply.

It’s like a simplified tether minus USB cable. Your laptop and Blackberry connect via Bluetooth — no need for a Wi-Fi hotspot, ever. XTop Mobile sends your BlackBerry’s incoming email with attachments, calendar, to-dos and contacts etc. to your laptop with a user-friendly interface. It’ll even let you browse the web on your PC and gives you the option to answer your phone while automatically putting your BlackBerry into speaker mode.

We’ll have to get a look at a completed demo before we recommend you permanently abandon your wireless USB stick. Until then, maybe IMS will consider building XTop to second guess your GPS directions on those cold winter nights in Colorado.

This post originated at BBGeeks.com – home to all things Blackberry!
