I was at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thekitchn.com\/thekitchn\/summer\/san-francisco-farmers-market-report-alemany-088963\">Alemany Farmer&#8217;s Market<\/a> recently and Jerusalem artichokes (also known as sunchokes) are in season.  I&#8217;ve never tried this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thekitchn.com\/thekitchn\/winter\/seasonal-spotlight-jerusalem-artichokes-aka-sunchokes-004231\">sunflower tuber<\/a>, and I always enjoy trying new vegetables, so I grabbed a couple.  They were quite cheap at 50 cents a pound.
