Due to the back-folding keyboard, the 5-megapixel camera with flash on the Backflip is situated in an unusual position as well, to the bottom left corner of the keyboard. That allows you to take pictures when the keyboard is in the closed position. The back of the keyboard features a large touchpad to assist with scrolling through content on the screen.<\/p>\n
Other than its unusual design, the Motorola Backflip’s specs include a 3.1-inch display with a 320X480 resolution, 512MB ROM, and 256MB of RAM. The Backflip is reported to run on a 528MHz processor and will offer support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
\nThe touchpad on the back of the screen is\u2026 well, interesting, but that\u2019s about all we can really say about it at this point \u2014 as Sanjay said during the keynote, it\u2019ll be up to devs utilizing Moto\u2019s API to do the really awesome stuff with it. In the meantime, it acts exactly as you\u2019d expect a trackball or optical pad to work on Android \u2014 just upside down.<\/p>\n
In terms of the screen and the Blur experience, it\u2019s a dead ringer for the CLIQ, for better or worse \u2014 the big difference, of course, is the fact that the screen can be tilted. The phone\u2019s got a sensor so it can detect when the screen\u2019s at a 45-degree angle, putting it in a media mode and making it particularly useful as an alarm clock. Would we buy one? We\u2019re not sure \u2014 it\u2019s no Droid, certainly \u2014 but maybe it doesn\u2019t have to be.
