I have been on Metformin, 1000mg twice a day, for six weeks.  I am learning through trial and error which foods cause gastric problems.  Yesterday I battled diarrea all afternoon.  I skipped the second dose of Metformin and took an over the conter anti diarrhea medicine.(Lopermide Hydrochloride)  No change in low carb diet.  My 2hr post meal reading was through the roof so I took another reading at 3 hours.  It was even worse.  Among the warnings on the drug box was one regarding liver problems.  I don&#8217;t have any, but since Metformin helps control the liver releasing glucose could this drug have caused such a massive spike in BG levels?
