New investor Crosslink Capital of San Francisco led the round, and all of the company’s prior investors also participated, says David Friend, Carbonite’s founder and CEO. “This is a mezzanine round which we anticipate will accelerate our growth going into an IPO a year or so out,” Friend tells Xconomy. The company has previously raised about $47 million, including, most recently, a $20 million Series C round in September 2008 that included Menlo Ventures, 3i Group, Performance Equity, and CommonAngels.<\/p>\n
