I was mainly sedentary. Lipids, except for triglycerides, controlled to normal with medication.

As of today, I weigh 201 pounds and have an average BG reading of 97. My BMI is 27.3. I currently walk approximately 2 hours a day. My average daily carb consumption is 20 – 30. Through shear negligence, I have paid no attention to my daily caloric intake.

My final goal is to weigh 175 pounds, a BMI of 23.7, and an average A1C in the low 5s. I want to maintain a daily carb consumption of 30.

I attribute the weight loss I achieved so far as due to the walking and the reduction of carbs. With hind sight I also realize that there is an associated weight loss due to the reduction of calories.

Classified as obese at the start of this journey I was not too worried about the rapid weight loss as I felt I was burning excess fat off. Two months later I am growing concerned that at a rate of over three pounds a week that I am losing the weight too fast.

To slow the rate of weight loss I intend to increase my caloric intake by adding more no/low carb foods such as olive oil and proteins. What I worry about is that my lipid profile is going to skyrocket.

 My questions are: Is it safe to continue at my current rate of weight loss until I achieve my final goal? Will my lipids soar if I add in more fats and proteins? Any recommendations as to high caloric but low/no carb foods?

Kozak

It has been two months since I have been diagnosed as a Type II.
