Not because I like OSX per se, but because I heard I could do it, and wanted to try it out.<\/p>\n<p>When I first installed it I followed the instructions from <a href=\"http:\/\/gizmodo.com\/5156903\/how-to-hackintosh-a-dell-mini-9-into-the-ultimate-os-x-netbook\" >Gizmodo<\/a> on installing OSX on my Dell mini. The instructions were fairly straight forward, but still kind of a pain in the butt.<\/p>\n<p>The other day a friend of mine showed me a utility that will take all of the real work out of turning your netbook into an ultimate Hackintosh bad boy toy!<\/p>\n<p>There is a Google code tool called <a href=\"http:\/\/netbook-installer.googlecode.com\/files\/NetbookBootMaker%200.8.3.app.zip\" >Netbook Bootmaker<\/a>. You use it to make a bootable OSX install USB Thumb Drive! It currently works with both OSX Leopard (10.5.6 &#8211; 10.5.8) and OSX Snow Leopard (10.5.6 -10.6.x)! Currently, here are the supported netbooks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Acer Aspire One D150<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Dell Mini 9 \/ Vostro A90<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Dell Mini 10v<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Lenovo S10 2&#160; <\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">HP Mini 110<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Samsung NC-10<\/font><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The cool thing about the Netbook Bootmaker is that once you create your install DVD it will work on any of the above netbooks! No muss, no fuss!<\/p>\n<p>What you will need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Retail DVD of OSX<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000UZN2ZK?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=bauerpower-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B000UZN2ZK\" >USB Thumb drive<\/a> with at least 8GB of storage<\/li>\n<li>A Mac\/Hackintosh already running OSX<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That last bullet point kind of sucks, but the Netbook Bootmaker is an OSX application, and will not run on Windows. Once you have what you need, do the following on the computer already running OSX:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Download the <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/netbook-installer.googlecode.com\/files\/NetbookBootMaker%200.8.3.app.zip\" ><strong>Netbook Bootmaker<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_jLaEIqL6T8Y\/S0aZDg9HcsI\/AAAAAAAACPE\/Ik-zgHvKrDk\/s1600-h\/Hackintosh_by_3LgoRdo%5B7%5D.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right: 0px\" title=\"Hackintosh_by_3LgoRdo\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Hackintosh_by_3LgoRdo\" align=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_jLaEIqL6T8Y\/S0aZElGD4KI\/AAAAAAAACPI\/xO1nQRWEWSU\/Hackintosh_by_3LgoRdo_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"145\" height=\"194\" \/><\/a> <\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Insert your retail OSX DVD<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Insert your USB Thumb Drive<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">In Finder, click on <strong>Go &gt; Utilities &gt; Disk Utility<\/strong><\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Click on your Thumb Drive and select <strong>Restore<\/strong><\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Drag and drop your DVD to the source<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Drag and drop your USB to the destination<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Check the box to erase, then click restore<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Go make some coffee, because this will take a while<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Once complete, open up <strong>Netbook Bookmaker<\/strong><\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Select your Thumb drive from the drop down<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Click <strong>Prepare Boot Drive<\/strong><\/font><\/li>\n<li><font color=\"#0000ff\">Done!<\/font><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now when you are ready to install OSX on your netbook, just boot up to your thumb drive, and go through a typical install! After everything is installed on your new Hackintosh, go into your utilities and run the Netbook installer app to make sure everything is working right.
