{"id":154858,"date":"2010-01-08T14:25:43","date_gmt":"2010-01-08T19:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.skyscrapercity.com\/showthread.php?t=1040997"},"modified":"2010-01-08T14:25:43","modified_gmt":"2010-01-08T19:25:43","slug":"piccadilly-line-southern-extension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/154858","title":{"rendered":"Piccadilly Line southern Extension"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>With the revived talk of the DLR bringing the Fleet Line tunnels and Aldwych Station back into use, it got me thinking, if CPOs were put into place around the station, so that escalators could be installed, could Aldwych become an important interchange and really take the heat off the appalling congestion at Covent Garden?<\/p>\n<p>How about reviving the aborted southern spur of the Piccadilly Line from Holborn, but possibly as a completely separate line. It&#8217;d be great to have the Piccadilly finally going south of the Thames at last. It could go something like this:<\/p>\n<p>Holborn<br \/>\nAldwych (interchange with DLR and Piccadilly)<br \/>\nSouth Bank (new station with interchange or travelator for new southern Blackfriars entrance)<br \/>\nSouthwark (interchange with Jubilee Line)<br \/>\nLambeth South (new station)<br \/>\nKennington (interchange with Northern Line)<br \/>\nCamberwell (new station)<br \/>\nDenmark Hill<br \/>\nEast Dulwich<br \/>\nHerne Hill<br \/>\nBrixton (enlarged new station and interchange with Victoria Line)<\/p>\n<p>OK, so I&#8217;ve got far too much time on my hands today.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the revived talk of the DLR bringing the Fleet Line tunnels and Aldwych Station back into use, it got me thinking, if CPOs were put into place around the station, so that escalators could be installed, could Aldwych become an important interchange and really take the heat off the appalling congestion at Covent Garden?
