1. Flesh the idea out.<\/p>\n
2. Be clear about the costs vs profit.<\/p>\n
3. Make sure you understand fully how they can earn their money back and turn that huge profit quickly.<\/p>\n
4. And most important\u2026don\u2019t be a pig when it comes to dividing shares (learned that the hard way).<\/p>\n
What we experienced with the Sharks is what makes the show so entertaining – and dare we say it – educational.<\/p>\n
Contestants pitch there business ideas to a panel of big-wigs and, if the concept is good enough, they could walk away with investment capital for their effort. Not a bad take in exchange for the possibility of coming off as a dope on camera.<\/p>\n
The investors see the show as an opportunity for themselves, too, in both business and publicity for the ventures – and make no mistake, these guys are in it to win it.Jason also asked her what makes for a successful salesperson. If you want to succeed, do you have to be a born salesperson? Do you have to do months of expensive market research and have every I dotted and every T crossed? Or does it take something else? Corcoran lays it out there: You don’t have to be buttoned-up to make money. But you do need something else.<\/p>\n

While Jason was there, one of last season’s most memorable entrepreneurs, plus-size fashion designer Gayla Bentley, arrived at Corcoran’s office for a hard-core business meeting. Bentley had flown up from Houston, Texas, to go toe-to-toe with her Shark investors, Corcoran and Daymond John, to hammer out the next step of her global domination.<\/p>\n
Before Jason knew it, Corcoran and Bentley were settling in at the conference table, and he got evicted. The jokes ended, and it was all business.<\/p>\n
