Anna university Coimbatore has 3 government Engineering colleges, 2 Govt aided engineering colleges and 98 self financing engineering colleges and 15 stand alone institutions under its fold. About 80000 aspiring engineering graduates study in these institutions. 80% of the Students come from rural Background.<\/p>\n
It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology, Management and allied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society. Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained there from, it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
\na) Qualification:
\nCandidates should have passed the Diploma examination in Engineering\/ Technology in the relevant branch of specialization conducted by the State Board of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination recognized by Anna University.
\nb) Year of Qualifying for Diploma:
\nCandidates who have obtained the Diploma in the relevant filed before 01.01.2008 are eligible.
\nc) Employment:
\nShall have been employed for at least one year after passing the entire subject in Diploma.
\nd) Place of Work:
\nCandidates should be working in a place within a distance of 65 km from the University so as to enable him \/ her to attend the classes regularly by 6.15 p.m.<\/p>\n
Anna University was converted into an affiliated type of University wherein all the Government, Government aided and Self-financing Engineering Colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu numbering around 102 are affiliated to it.<\/p>\n
Since the number of institutions in the state was continuously rising every year and 240 during 2006, for administrative convenience, Anna University was divided into four separate Universities namely,<\/p>\n
