Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is seeking high-achieving, rising juniors and seniors interested in public policy, politics, government and public service. Exceptional rising sophomores will be considered on a case by case basis with a very strong recommendation from a UT faculty member.<\/p>\n<p>Baker Scholars attend Baker Center events throughout the year and assist with promotion of these events to peers and faculty. The scholars also complete a project, prepare an end-of-the-year summary of the project and participate in the end-of-the-year Baker Scholar Symposium and celebration dinner.<\/p>\n<p>All applications are due at the Baker Center, 1640 Cumberland Ave., by 5 p.m. Feb. 1. Applications are available on the Baker Center website.<\/p>\n<p>All new applicants must be enrolled at UT Knoxville for at least a full academic year (fall 2010 to spring 2011) and not enrolled in semester abroad, to be considered for this program. Successful applicants typically have a GPA of 3.35 or above.<\/p>\n<p>This is a one-year appointment subject to renewal annually. The number of Baker Scholars is limited; selection is a competitive process. Baker Scholars will be chosen based on their application, academic history, UT faculty appraisal and an interview with the selection committee.<\/p>\n<p>Interviews with finalists will be held between Feb. 17 and March 4.<\/p>\n<p>Students chosen to be scholars will be notified on March 5.
