Micklethwait draws parallels between \u201cclimate change<\/a>\u201d and the Cold War.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the AGW debate has arrived at the same
\nposition that the Cold War argument had arrived at in or around about
\n1970 to 1980. An informed minority of pro-economic-progress critics had
\nwon the academic argument against the pro-economic-derangement
\nacademics, and word of this victory was spreading. And a particular
\nthing that happened then is starting to happen now, which is that even
\nintelligent layman critics of the John Redwood (and Brian Micklethwait)
\nvariety are starting to understand the details of the argument better
\nthan even the very smartest of the pro-derangement scientists, of the
\nsort who are still advising governments, or who are still receiving and
\nstill trying still to believe this advice.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Micklethwait is right. We sceptics have started to wipe the floor
\nwith our opponents in a way that just wasn\u2019t possible twelve
\nmonths ago. The \u201csmoking gun\u201d evidence kindly provided by
\nthe Climategate leakster has been a huge help of course. As too has Mother Nature<\/a> (I call her Clima-tor). But the real boost has been the following wind provided by shifting public opinion.<\/p>\n
