‘The swine flu<\/a> outbreak
\nwas a ‘false pandemic’ driven by drug companies that stood to make
\nbillions of pounds from a worldwide scare, a leading health expert has
\nclaimed. <\/font><\/p>\n

Wolfgang Wodarg, head of
\nhealth at the Council of Europe, accused the makers of flu drugs<\/a> and
\nvaccines of influencing the World Health Organisation’s decision to
\ndeclare a pandemic. <\/font><\/p>\n

This led to the
\npharmaceutical firms ensuring ‘enormous gains’, while countries,
\nincluding the UK<\/a>, ’squandered’ their meagre health budgets, with
\nmillions being vaccinated against a relatively mild disease. <\/font><\/p>\n
