‘Just days earlier,
\nVenezuela\u2019s Vice-President Ram\u00f3n Carrizalez had publicly
\ndenounced the intromission of a US<\/a> military plane also originating from
\nthe air base in Cura\u00e7ao during 2009. The governments of
\nWashington and Holland denied the violation, yet Carrizalez revealed an
\naudio recording between the Venezuelan airport control tower and the US<\/a>
\npilot while inside Venezuelan airspace. <\/font><\/p>\n

The pilot stated clearly
\nthat he was flying a US<\/a> Navy military plane stationed at the base in
\nCura\u00e7ao. He claimed ignorance as to the violation of Venezuelan
\nterritory, stating he was \u201cunaware\u201d he had entered an
\nauthorized zone. But the US<\/a> military plane hadn\u2019t just merely
\ncrossed a border that some might argue is difficult to visualize,
\nrather the pilot had flown over a strategic Venezuelan military base on
\nLa Orchila, a small island off Venezuela\u2019s northern coast,
\nclearly well inside Venezuelan territory. This was not an isolated
\nincident.’<\/font><\/p>\n
