‘Yemen insisted yesterday
\nthat it could handle its own mounting security challenges without any
\ndirect foreign intervention, pointedly warning Washington to learn the
\nlessons from Iraq<\/a> and Afghanistan<\/a>. <\/font>While
\nwelcoming US<\/a> intelligence and technological co-operation, the Deputy
\nPrime Minister for Defence and Security, Rashad al-Alimi, told a
\ncrowded news conference in the capital, Sana’a, that the government<\/a> did
\nnot want foreign troops on its soil. <\/font><\/p>\n

That message was
\nreinforced by Foreign Minister Abukar al-Qirbi, who told CNN that
\nfighting militants was “the priority and the responsibility of our
\nsecurity forces and the army”.’<\/font><\/p>\n
