‘The levy on advertising revenue is the
\nlatest plank in France’s drive to regulate the internet<\/a>, which has seen
\nit enact some of the world’s toughest antipiracy legislation.<\/font><\/p>\n

Besides Google<\/a>, the tax would target
\nother large operators in Europe such as Microsoft and Yahoo! whether or
\nnot their offices are in France. Google<\/a>’s European headquarters are in
\nIreland<\/a>, but under the proposal, the operator would pay a levy every
\ntime a French internet<\/a> user clicks on an advertising banner or
