France will use body scanners<\/a> at some of its airports,
\ninitially to search passengers heading to the United States, Transport
\nSecretary Dominique Bussereau told Europe 1 radio on Friday.<\/p>\n

France said it would tighten security measures at its airports after
\na failed attempt to blow up a U.S. plane heading for Detroit on
\nChristmas day.<\/p>\n

Bussereau said the first scanners would be used \u201ccertainly for
\nflights to the United States and the most sensitive flights to start
\nwith\u201d and said there may be six or seven scanners at the
\nbeginning.<\/p>\n

A scanner will be installed at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris
\nwithin the next two weeks and another at the city\u2019s Orly airport
\nat a later date, Eric Plaisant, director of security at France\u2019s
\ncivil aviation authority, said.<\/p>\n
