President Barack Obama<\/a> said \u201cthe buck stops with
\nme\u201d yesterday as he ordered measures to improve intelligence
\noperations and security screening in response to the attempted bombing
\nof an airliner on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n

To foil future attacks, Obama<\/a> directed heads of the main U.S.
\nintelligence agencies to set clear lines of responsibility for
\nfollowing up leads on terrorist threats and to bolster the system for
\nadding names to watch lists.<\/p>\n

Obama<\/a> said agencies and their leaders will be held accountable if
\nthey don\u2019t carry out the necessary changes, He also said he
\nwasn\u2019t \u201cinterested in passing out blame\u201d for the Dec.
\n25 incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs president, I have a solemn responsibility to protect our
\nnation and our people, and when the system fails, it is my
\nresponsibility,\u201d Obama<\/a> said at the White House as the
\nadministration released a declassified summary of a report on how a
\nNigerian man with links to extremists was allowed to board a
\nDetroit-bound flight from Amsterdam.<\/p>\n
