I will try to write some more when I can find some quiet time to write. In the mean time, Jeff Jarvis has an <strong><a title=\"http:\/\/www.buzzmachine.com\/2010\/01\/12\/what-google-should-do\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.buzzmachine.com\/2010\/01\/12\/what-google-should-do\/\" >insightful post &#8220;What Google should do&#8221; on this Google.cn decision<\/a><\/strong>. It is a great read. Here is one excerpt (with emphasis added),<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>I know some will say that Google wasn\u2019t doing that well in China anyway<\/strong> (it controls\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/idUSTRE60C0TW20100113\">31%<\/a> of the market); they\u2019ll ascribe cynical motives. <strong>But I say: Name one other company that finally said \u201cenough!\u201d <\/strong>and put ethic, morals, and company standards over its lust for the Chinese market. <strong>Not Yahoo. Not Cisco. Not Nokia. Not Siemens. Not The New York Times Company. Google has.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Have a read of the Atlantic writer <strong><a title=\"http:\/\/jamesfallows.theatlantic.com\/archives\/2010\/01\/first_reactions_on_google_and.php\" href=\"http:\/\/jamesfallows.theatlantic.com\/archives\/2010\/01\/first_reactions_on_google_and.php\" >James Fallows&#8217; article &#8220;The Google news: China enters its Bush-Cheney era&#8221;<\/a><\/strong> for some insightful analysis and discussions. After reading Jeff&#8217;s articles, I don&#8217;t know if <strong><a title=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/world\/asia\/displaystory.cfm?story_id=15267915&amp;fsrc=twitter&amp;sa_campaign=twitter\" href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/world\/asia\/displaystory.cfm?story_id=15267915&amp;fsrc=twitter&amp;sa_campaign=twitter\" >The Economist&#8217;s &#8220;Google errs &#8211; Google&#8217;s plan to withdraw from China may be as much about poor business prospects as ethics&#8221;<\/a><\/strong> has much leg room to stand on. See also <strong><a title=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/business\/8456950.stm\" href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/business\/8456950.stm\" >BBC &#8220;Chinese surprise at Google pull-out threat&#8221;<\/a><\/strong> (<strong>note:<\/strong> I am not surprised at Baidu&#8217;s responses which, in cases like this, I see as another mouthpiece for the Chinese government. Think, what can a Chinese company do?
