Heroes’<\/em> Jimmy Jean-Louis, a native of Haiti, lost several members of his extended family after a 7.2 earthquake rocked the impoverished island on Tuesday. Jean-Louis is trying to locate his parents in the earthquake-rocked country after learning that the home he grew up incollapsed and killed several family members. <\/p>\n

\u201cAs you must know, Haiti\u2019s been hit by a big catastrophe \u2013 a major earthquake. 7.0,\u201d<\/em> he stated in a video posted to YouTube Wednesday. \u201cI\u2019ve been trying to reach my family for the whole day. Can\u2019t get in touch with my mom, dad, cousins, uncles and friends.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

“I have not slept yet. The second house that I grew up in was down, and some relatives have died, from what I have been told,” <\/em>Jimmy told CNN this afternoon. “I haven’t been able to reach my parents. I have heard that they are OK, but I do not know what is going on around them.” <\/em><\/p>\n

Jean-Louis spent the holidays with his family on the island. He now plans to go back to administer aid to the homeless and injured through his Hollywood Unites for Haiti charity.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaiti is a poor country \u2013 and we cannot cope with such a situation. Haiti needs help. We need the basics, water, cans, clothing. So however you can help would be really good for the country,”<\/em> Jimmy explained sadly. “I am going to try to get in, but I am going to try to understand the situation first to see how I can best help. The plan is to at some point visit, and right now, I am trying to be as productive as I can be here.” <\/em><\/p>\n
