The Transportation Security Administration<\/a>, under scrutiny after last month\u2019s bombing attempt, has on its Web site a \u201cmythbuster<\/a>\u201d that tries to reassure the public.<\/p>\n

Myth: The No-Fly list includes an 8-year-old boy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Buster: No 8-year-old is on a T.S.A. watch list.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMeet Mikey Hicks,\u201d said Najlah Feanny Hicks,
\nintroducing her 8-year-old son, a New Jersey Cub Scout and frequent
\ntraveler who has seldom boarded a plane without a hassle because he
\nshares the name of a suspicious person. \u201cIt\u2019s not a
\nmyth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael Winston Hicks\u2019s mother initially sensed trouble when
\nhe was a baby and she could not get a seat for him on their flight to
\nFlorida at an airport kiosk; airline officials explained that his name
\n\u201cwas on the list,\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n

The first time he was patted down, at Newark Liberty International Airport<\/a>, Mikey was 2. He cried.<\/p>\n

After years of long delays and waits for supervisors at every
\nairport ticket counter, this year\u2019s vacation to the Bahamas badly
\nshook up the family. Mikey was frisked on the way there, then more
\naggressively on the way home.<\/p>\n

\u201cUp your arms, down your arms, up your crotch \u2014 someone
\nis patting your 8-year-old down like he\u2019s a criminal,\u201d Mrs.
\nHicks recounted. \u201cA terrorist can blow his underwear up and they
\ndon\u2019t catch him. But my 8-year-old can\u2019t walk through
\nsecurity without being frisked.\u201d<\/p>\n
