On his way out the door, retiring Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn) has
\nsome bad news for health reform advocates still cheering the late
\nDecember Senate vote.<\/p>\n

\u201cHealth care reform is \u2018hanging on by a thread,\u2019
\nand one or two votes could determine the outcome of the heavily-debated
\nbill, Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd told CNBC Monday,\u201d the cable business news network reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dodd said you would have to be \u201cliving on the moon\u201d not
\nto know what senators have already gone on the record with having
\nissues with the plan, citing Nebraska\u2019s Ben Nelson,
\nConnecticut\u2019s Joe Lieberman and Senator Blanche Lincoln from
\nArkansas.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone feels, I guess, to some degree who have been for
\nthis, that they would have liked something different, and that\u2019s
\nnot uncommon when you\u2019re considering an issue of this
\nmagnitude,\u201d Dodd said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf this is all about surviving politically, then we\u2019re
\nmissing the whole purpose of what we\u2019re supposed to be
\ndoing,\u201d Dodd added.<\/p>\n

Dodd said he admired President Obama for taking health reform on,
\nand that doing nothing would \u201cstrangle\u201d the economy.<\/p>\n

The National Review\u2019s Corner<\/a> quotes a \u201csenior GOP Senate staffer\u201d responding to Dodd:<\/p>\n

Sounds like there is a full-scale operation underway to
\nconvince liberals: Unite, you have nothing to lose but your principles.
\nThey\u2019re working over the progressive caucus, Big Labor, and other
\nLefty groups to convince them that a bad bill is better than no bill.
\nThey have no margin for error, so they\u2019re doing everything they
\ncan to unite groups who dislike the bill.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
