I was diagnosed 4 years ago. My doc put me on Lantus with a Humulin kicker. All was going well. Last year he said I was doing so well he took me off Lantus and put me on Metformin. My BG has been so wacky since its unreal. To make matters worse&#8230;I have liver problems. I went to an oncologist and he says I have cirrhosis of the liver. I dont drink alcohol at all&#8230;ever. My BG stays in the 400-500 range during the day. Doc has me on metformin 4 times a day now. Unfortunately&#8230;medicare wont let me on Part B without a monthly 150.00 &#8216;penalty&#8217; for not going on Part B 4 years ago ! ( I had decent insurance back then). NOW the insurance company has basicallty kicked me off and I cant afford the 200.00 office visit to my doctor ! I want to go back on Lantus&#8230;but cant without at least one visit to my doctor &#8230; grrrrrrrrrrrrr.:mad: <\/p>\n<p>I have been reading this forum for about 2 weeks now. I am learning a lot about diet, metformin, and everything else about diabetes. I have gotten on a &#8216;no white stuff&quot; diet. I am watching my carbs. My wife is helping me with all this&#8230;bless her heart. As far as Lantus and needles&#8230;I  hate needles! BUT with the super fine syringes and my wife volunteering to inject me&#8230;it was a breeze! I used to &#8216;pinch an inch&#8217; on my stomach and she would &#8216;just do it&quot;. It was really painless. The Lantus worked well. The metformin doesnt. I will continue to read all I can&#8230;watch my diet&#8230;take my pills&#8230;and hope I can get back to my doctor very soon and get back on THE GOOD STUFF&#8230;thnxs<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am 60 years old and disabled.
