{"id":198584,"date":"2010-01-19T10:56:59","date_gmt":"2010-01-19T15:56:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chicagopressrelease.com\/?p=11208"},"modified":"2010-01-19T10:56:59","modified_gmt":"2010-01-19T15:56:59","slug":"14-schools-added-to-cps-failing-schools-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/198584","title":{"rendered":"14 schools added to CPS failing schools program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fourteen Chicago public schools will be either closed, consolidated or undergo extensive personnel overhaul this year, officials said today.<\/p>\n<p>The latest moves are part of the system&#8217;s continuing efforts to shut down and consolidate failing and under-enrolled schools.<\/p>\n<p>Four schools&#8211;Las Casas, McCorkle Elementary, Prescott Elementary and Paderewski Elementary-will be closed due to inadequate facilities and low enrollment. <span id=\"more-11208\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Another four schools will be consolidated into nearby facilities. These are Marconi Elementary, Curtis Elementary, Guggenheim Elementary and Mollison Elementary.<\/p>\n<p>One school, Schneider Elementary, will be phased out.<\/p>\n<p>Five schools in the district will be the subject of turnaround operations. That means staff will be fired and a new operator will come in to run the school.<\/p>\n<p>Two elementary schools, Gillespie and Bradwell,\u00a0 will be operated by the successful Academy of Urban School Leadership.
