{"id":199253,"date":"2010-01-19T08:40:00","date_gmt":"2010-01-19T13:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/apples-macs-flying-off-the-shelves-2010-1"},"modified":"2010-01-19T08:40:00","modified_gmt":"2010-01-19T13:40:00","slug":"apples-macs-flying-off-the-shelves-aapl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/199253","title":{"rendered":"Apple&#8217;s Macs Flying Off The Shelves (AAPL)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"float_right\" src=\"http:\/\/static.businessinsider.com\/image\/4b545ebb0000000000b7d605\/steve-jobs-imac.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Steve Jobs iMac\" \/><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Apple&#8217;s Mac business is having a growth comeback.<\/p>\n<p>After <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/chart-of-the-day-apples-mac-is-back-2009-10\">the recession knocked out the Mac&#8217;s growth story<\/a>, it&#8217;s back on the rise, thanks to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/apple-unveils-new-imac-macbook-2009-10\">awesome 27-inch iMacs<\/a> and more affordable MacBook Pro.<\/p>\n<p>Mac retail sales in the U.S., tracked by NPD Group, are up around 26% year-over-year for the December quarter, according to analysis by Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, who published his findings in a note this morning. That&#8217;s higher than the Street&#8217;s expectations for 19% year-over-year growth.<\/p>\n<p>In unit figures, Munster thinks that&#8217;ll mean Apple shipped 3.1 million Macs last quarter, up from his previous guess of 2.9 million.<\/p>\n<p>Munster also thinks Street estimates for 2010 now have to come up: The Street is expecting roughly 14% year-over-year Mac growth this year, which seems to be below the roughly 20% year-over-year growth the business is showing. &#8220;2010 shaping up to be the year of the Mac,&#8221; he writes.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, in his note today, Munster said he remains &#8220;confident&#8221; in his estimate for 9.3 million iPhone shipments last quarter, above the Street at 9.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>Apple reports December quarter results next Monday, Jan. 25; join us for live coverage.
