Everyone knows about China’s population problem, but here’s another angle.<\/p>\n

In a society that promotes communities of extended family to care for its elders, the sibling-less offspring of the One Child Policy are facing a crippling burden. Which means that the country’s future taxpayers are at a severe disadvantage.<\/p>\n

This criticism is one of many that are emerging as the plan enters its 30th year, according to Caing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Other challenges of the 4-2-1 program are the threat of declining population and a dramatic reduction to the labor force — as the population between 20 and 24 years of age may drop from 125 million in 2010 to 68 million in 2020.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, China has no kind of infrastructure to deal with unchecked population growth, so it’s a rock and hard place scenario for the new superpower.<\/p>\n
