Steven Alexander, of the 13800 block of South Forest Street, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. The teenager sustained gunshot wounds to the head and chest, a spokesman said.<\/p>\n
The shooting occurred around 8:10 p.m. Tuesday in the 14300 block of Irving Avenue, said Dolton Police Cmdr. David Spigolon. Police were called to the scene because residents heard gunfire, he said.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they found Alexander lying face-down between the sidewalk and the curb, close to a driveway. The boy sustained multiple gunshot wounds, but paramedics were able to maintain his pulse, Spigolon said.<\/p>\n
Alexander was taken to the hospital and died the following day, Spigolon said.<\/p>\n
The shooting is being investigated by Dolton police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Taskforce.<\/p>\n
