The company <a  rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/01\/21\/AR2010012103868.html?hpid=topnews\">raised the profile<\/a> of Al Franken and Rachel Maddow and &#8220;helped build a new sense of <a  rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/airamerica.com\/\">purpose and determination among American progressives<\/a>&#8221; at a time when dissent on issues was &#8220;often denounced as &#8216;un-American.&#8217;&#8221; Despite yesterday&#8217;s news, progressive radio remains <a  rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/bill-press\/progressive-radio-is-aliv_b_432621.html\">alive and well<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-78595\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In a <a  rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.state.gov\/secretary\/rm\/2010\/01\/135519.htm\">speech<\/a> on <strong>internet freedom<\/strong> yesterday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, \u201cThose who disrupt the free flow of information in our society or any other <a  rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/01\/22\/world\/asia\/22diplo.html\">pose a threat<\/a> to our economy, our government and our civil society.\u201d The Chinese Foreign Ministry lashed out today saying Clinton\u2019s speech was \u201c<a  rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/01\/23\/world\/asia\/23diplo.html?partner=rss&#038;emc=rss\">harmful to Sino-American relations<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A bill that would <strong>ban abortions in Nebraska during the second trimester or later<\/strong> would be <a  rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/journalstar.com\/news\/local\/govt-and-politics\/article_b82bd218-06f9-11df-962c-001cc4c03286.html\">the first law of its kind in the nation if passed<\/a> by the Legislature,&#8221; according to the bill&#8217;s sponsor. The legislation would ban abortion after the fetus has the &#8220;physical structures necessary to experience pain&#8221; and would &#8220;require a doctor to determine the gestational age of the fetus before performing an abortion.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Obama administration &#8220;has decided to <strong>continue to imprison without trials nearly 50 detainees at the Guantanamo Bay military prison in Cuba<\/strong> because a high-level task force has concluded that they are too difficult to prosecute but too dangerous to release,&#8221; an administration official told the press Thursday. There are currently <a  rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/01\/22\/us\/22gitmo.html?hp\">nearly 200 detainees left<\/a> at the prison.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Several European governments reacted positively<\/strong> to a new Obama plan &#8220;to curb banks&#8217; size and trading activities&#8221; yesterday. &#8220;They see that regulation, which was a taboo word that was difficult to use in financial circles in the United States, is vital to contain &#8230; <a  rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/reuters\/2010\/01\/22\/business\/business-us-obama-financials.html?_r=1\">banking excesses<\/a>,&#8221; said French Economy Minister Christine Lagarde.<\/p>\n<p>Continuing his \u201c<a  rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/whitehouse.blogs.foxnews.com\/2010\/01\/22\/obama-to-ohio-to-talk-jobs-hear-some-anger\/\">White House to Main Street<\/a>\u201d jobs tour, <strong>President Obama will travel to the Cleveland suburb of Elyria<\/strong>, Ohio today, one of the hardest hit areas in the country in terms of unemployment.
