I saw these adorable <a href=\"http:\/\/familyfun.go.com\/recipes\/hot-chocolate-cones-687223\/\">Hot Chocolate Cones<\/a> a while back at <a href=\"http:\/\/familyfun.go.com\/\">Family Fun<\/a>, and with a little green know-how you can transform the traditional ingredients into eco-friendly ingredients which makes this a green treat to give to friends and family. I also think it&#8217;s a perfect favor idea for an eco-friendly Valentine&#8217;s Day party.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-139978\" src=\"http:\/\/images2.blisstree.com\/files\/2010\/01\/green-valentine-organic-hot-chocolate-cones.jpg\" alt=\"green valentine organic hot chocolate cones\" width=\"590\" height=\"362\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hot Chocolate Cones!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Gather up the following for each cone you want to make&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3\/4 cup <a href=\"http:\/\/www.growingagreenfamily.com\/diy-healthy-organic-fair-trade-hot-chocolate\/\">organic Fair Trade hot cocoa mix<\/a><\/li>\n<li> 1\/4 cup mini Fair Trade chocolate chips<\/li>\n<li> 3\/4 cup <a href=\"http:\/\/store.nexternal.com\/shared\/StoreFront\/default.asp?CS=vegane&amp;StoreType=BtoC&amp;Count1=188869655&amp;Count2=106010079&amp;ProductID=2827&amp;>mini vegan marshmallows<\/a><\/li>\n<li> Family Fun suggests you use 1 large natural red gumdrop for the cherry topper\u00a0 &#8211; Now, organic or natural red gumdrops are impossible to find, but since it&#8217;s Valentine&#8217;s Day you could use adorable vegan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturalcandystore.com\/product\/raspberry-red-licorice-hearts-3-pack\/natural-gummy-candy\">Raspberry Red Licorice Hearts<\/a> or organic and vegan red <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturalcandystore.com\/product\/gummy-swirls-vegan-3-pack\/natural-gummy-candy\">Gummy Swirls<\/a>, which look like pretty little cherry jewels. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naturalcandystore.com\/product\/gummy-swirls-vegan-3-pack\/natural-gummy-candy\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Packaging:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Family Fun packaging is as follows; <em>2 (6- by 12-inch) cone-shaped cellophane bags (available at party stores); 2 clear rubber bands (we used ponytail holders)<\/em>. However, you can green it up a bit.<\/p>\n<p>For the paper cone you can gather some <a href=\"http:\/\/papernuts.com\/catalog.php?cPath=2&amp;cName=Recycled%20Kraft%20Paper&amp;osCsid=egi7qkgrlal9mijinl8t6fart7\">100% recycled paper<\/a> and form cones with it and for the packaging get some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stubbypencilstudio.com\/cgi-bin\/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&amp;key=CELLO_BAG_5X8\">100% biodegradable cellophane baggies<\/a>. As for the rubber bands, your footprint is small here, so go with those if you like, or simply tie the ends with a bit of hemp or strong natural fiber ribbon.<\/p>\n<p><em>To make your cones:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Pour the cocoa mix into one of the bags. Close the bag with a clear rubber band, then trim the end of the bag 1 inch above the band.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> Place the cocoa-filled bag into the second bag and flatten its top so the end doesn&#8217;t stick up.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> Layer the chocolate chips and the marshmallows, then top with the gumdrop. Secure the bag with the other rubber band.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now you have some eco-friendly cones to hand out for Valentine&#8217;s Day.
