He ended up with 42 units Lantus in the AM.<\/p>\n<p>We feel that is a little high, since we just started following Dr. Bernstein&#8217;s excellent plan (as close as we can afford to, anyway). <\/p>\n<p>Should we gradually drop down every 2-3 days, or what?<\/p>\n<p>We had a meeting with the pharmacist team (I believe they are mostly in training and use us a Guinea pigs). When they read the profile sheet and saw 42 units a day, the leader told us we had found the &#8216;sweet spot.&#8217; That sounded like a car salesman&#8217;s pitch and it has been rankling in our subconscious.<\/p>\n<p>Now, reading Dr. Berstein&#8217;s book, he speaks of a dose of 27 units daily as &#8216;Massive.&#8217; Says too much can cause insulin resistance.  <\/p>\n<p>We would appreciate advice from you folks. He gets his 1st 3 month A1c next Tues. and sees the Dr. the following week. We would like to be straightened out before we get there. He is a nice young man but he is only a Physicians Assistant and can not have too much experience.
