Climate change is likely to increase the frequency and impact of natural disasters, and Europe has to be prepared for this challenge. The Forum has started a debate on a comprehensive European disaster management strategy to enhance resilience.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAt the event, the JRC has presented its activities in this field, such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/floods.jrc.ec.europa.eu\/\" title=\"European Union EU floods portal. Flooding forecast in Europe.\" >European Flood Alert System <\/a>(EFAS) and the <a href=\"http:\/\/effis.jrc.ec.europa.eu\/\" title=\"European Forest Fire Information System - EFFIS\" >European Forest Fires Information System <\/a>(EFFIS), as well as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gdacs.org\" title=\"Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS)\" >Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System <\/a>(GDACS).
