MARGIN: 8px 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px\">The tax credits are part of the $787 billion stimulus President<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&#0160;<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/search.bloomberg.com\/search?q=Barack+Obama&amp;site=wnews&amp;client=wnews&amp;proxystylesheet=wnews&amp;output=xml_no_dtd&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;oe=UTF-8&amp;filter=p&amp;getfields=wnnis&amp;sort=date:D:S:d1\" onmouseover=\"return escape( popwSearchNews( this ))\" style=\"COLOR: #006b99; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none\"><font color=\"#006b99\">Barack Obama<\/font><\/a>pushed through Congress last year, and announcement of the companies that got the credit coincides with a Labor Department report that the U.S. lost 85,000 jobs in December.<\/p>\n<p style=\"PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 8px 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px\">The projects getting the tax credit are forecast by the administration to create more than 17,000 jobs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 8px 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px\">\u201cBuilding a robust clean-energy sector is how we will create the jobs of the future &#8212; jobs that pay well and can\u2019t be outsourced,\u201d Obama said in remarks today at the White House.<\/p>\n<p style=\"PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 8px 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px\">Obama said that, while the U.S. has \u201cpioneered the use of clean energy,\u201d it is being \u201coutpaced\u201d by countries including China, Germany and Japan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; And almost all of the batteries that we use to power our hybrid vehicles are still manufactured by Japanese companies or in Asia &#8212; though, because of one of the steps like the one we\u2019re taking today, we\u2019re beginning to produce more of these batteries here at home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px;
