But that&#8217;s not necessarily the case with Haitians who practice voodoo.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re leaving the loa alone.<\/p>\n<p>We were offered a rare glimpse inside a Haitian Voodoo temple today. I expected the voodoo priest we met to tell us how he is helping people find solace after the deadly earthquake that struck 11 days ago. Instead he told us he&#8217;s leaving the spirits alone. He said right now things on earth are much too volatile to try to invoke the spirit world.<\/p>\n<p>Voodoo, along with<br \/>\nCatholicism, are the official state religions of Haiti.
