{"id":220464,"date":"2010-01-24T01:38:59","date_gmt":"2010-01-24T06:38:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chicagopressrelease.com\/?p=13035"},"modified":"2010-01-24T01:38:59","modified_gmt":"2010-01-24T06:38:59","slug":"hicks-agrees-to-sell-rangers-to-nolan-ryan-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/220464","title":{"rendered":"Hicks agrees to sell Rangers to Nolan Ryan group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/chicagopressrelease.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/5e818ca2b1alryan.jpg.jpg\" alt=\"noalryan.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>Tom Hicks has agreed to sell the Texas Rangers to a group that includes Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan.<\/p>\n<p>The sides announced Saturday night that they had finally reached an agreement, eight days after a 30-day exclusive negotiating window expired.<\/p>\n<p>The group is headed by Pittsburgh sports attorney Chuck Greenberg. <span id=\"more-13035\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The purchase price is expected to be more than $500 million.<\/p>\n<p>The next step is the transaction has to be reviewed by baseball&#8217;s executive and ownership committees.<\/p>\n<p>Then at least 75 percent of baseball owners would have to approve the transfer of ownership from Hicks to Greenberg&#8217;s group.<\/p>\n<p>A group of 40 lenders holding debt from Hicks Sports Group also has to approve.<\/p>\n<p>There is a chance the deal could be approved before the April 5 season opener.<\/p>\n<p><small><em>Photo: Nolan Ryan.
