Why would a scientific body have accepted, without checking, the claims of a deep green group that depends on green scares for donations?<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Donna Lamframbois shows that <a title=\"the IPCC cited WWF propaganda an astonishing number of times \" href=\"http:\/\/nofrakkingconsensus.blogspot.com\/2010\/01\/more-dodgy-citations-in-nobel-winning.html\" >the IPCC cited WWF propaganda an astonishing number of times <\/a>in producing its Nobel Prize-winning 2007 report:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>For example, a WWF report is cited twice on<a title=\" this page \" href=\"http:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/publications_and_data\/ar4\/wg2\/en\/ch13s13-2-3.html\" > this page <\/a>as the only supporting proof of IPCC statements about coastal developments in Latin America. A WWF report is referenced twice by the IPCC\u2019s Working Group II in it <a title=\"concluding statements\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/publications_and_data\/ar4\/wg2\/en\/ch12s12-7.html\" >concluding statements<\/a>. There, the IPCC depends on the WWF to define what the global average per capita \u201cecological footprint\u201d is compared to the ecological footprint of central and Eastern Europe. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Elsewhere, when discussing \u201d<a title=\"mudflows and avalanches\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/publications_and_data\/ar4\/wg2\/en\/ch10s10-2-4-2.html\" >mudflows and avalanches<\/a>\u201d linked to melting glaciers, the oh-so-scientifically-circumspect IPCC relies on two sources to make its point &#8211; an apparently still unpublished paper delivered to a conference five years earlier (<a title=\"Bhadra\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/publications_and_data\/ar4\/wg2\/en\/ch10s10-references.html\" >Bhadra<\/a>, 2002) and a WWF document\u2026 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>When the IPCC advises world leaders that \u201cclimate change is <a title=\"very likely to produce significant impacts \" href=\"http:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/publications_and_data\/ar4\/wg2\/en\/ch12s12-4-7-2.html\" >very likely to produce significant impacts <\/a>on selected marine fish and shellfish (Baker, 2005)\u201d it doesn\u2019t call attention to the fact that the sole authority on which this statement rests is a <a title=\"WWF workshop project report\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/publications_and_data\/ar4\/wg2\/en\/ch12s12-references.html\" >WWF workshop project report<\/a>&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"more-30418\"><\/span>The IPCC turns out to be one more institution captured by activists &#8211; a danger <a title=\"a House of Lords committee \" href=\"http:\/\/www.publications.parliament.uk\/pa\/ld200506\/ldselect\/ldeconaf\/12\/12i.pdf\" >a House of Lords committee <\/a>investigating the economics of climate change tried to warn about more than four years ago when it critiqued the politicisation of the IPCC processes:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Indeed, it strikes us as opening the way for climate science and economics to be determined, at least in part, by political requirements rather than by the evidence.
