{"id":228192,"date":"2010-01-25T18:37:56","date_gmt":"2010-01-25T23:37:56","guid":{"rendered":"tag:typepad.com,2003:post-6a00d8341c630a53ef0120a80d6658970b"},"modified":"2010-01-25T18:37:44","modified_gmt":"2010-01-25T23:37:44","slug":"storm-erosion-steals-a-bit-of-newport-beach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/228192","title":{"rendered":"Storm erosion steals a bit of Newport Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week&#8217;s storms may have dumped <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/local\/la-me-beach25-2010jan25,0,2550000.story\">massive mounds of muck<\/a> on Southland beaches, but in Newport Beach, those same storms swept something away: sand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe storms came in with a diagonal attack on the beach, with waves and high<br \/>\ntides,\u201d Newport Lifeguard Battalion Chief Mitch White told Brianna Bailey of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailypilot.com\/articles\/2010\/01\/25\/publicsafety\/dpt-erosion012410.txt\">the Daily Pilot<\/a>. \u201cThat cuts<br \/>\naway the sand and creates a longshore current that comes up and sweeps the<br \/>\nbeach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>About 50 feet of sand was lost.
