{"id":228207,"date":"2010-01-25T13:39:14","date_gmt":"2010-01-25T18:39:14","guid":{"rendered":"tag:typepad.com,2003:post-6a00d8341c630a53ef0120a80be54b970b"},"modified":"2010-01-25T17:05:25","modified_gmt":"2010-01-25T22:05:25","slug":"vans-small-trucks-deliver-supplies-to-snowed-in-big-bear-updated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/228207","title":{"rendered":"Vans, small trucks deliver supplies to snowed-in Big Bear [Updated]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Authorities lifted a ban this morning on small delivery vehicles on Highway 18 into Lake Arrowhead, Crestline and Twin Peaks to get supplies to the <a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/lanow\/2010\/01\/crews-work-to-clear-closed-roads-to-big-bear-of-snow-and-ice.html\">snowed-in mountains,<\/a> said Caltrans spokeswoman Terri Kasinga.<\/p>\n<p>But larger supply trucks hauling trailers remained restricted from the roadways into Big Bear Valley for safety reasons, California Highway Patrol officials said.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cThe problem is there\u2019s so much snow &#8212; there\u2019s only so much place you can put the snow,\u201d said CHP Sgt. Sal Suarez. \u201cWe can\u2019t get big rigs and buses to be traveling along with vehicles in the other direction, otherwise it\u2019ll clog up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\nSuarez said smaller, two-axle trucks with no trailers were compact enough to pass up the mountain. \u201cOnce we have the roadway conditions prepared, most likely we can open it up for all vehicles,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Caltrans and CHP officials plan to reassess the situation at noon.
