The Afghanistan<\/a> parliamentary elections will be postponed by four months until September, according to the nation\u2019s election commission.<\/p>\n

National elections were scheduled to take place before 22 May as part of the constitution, but the new date will be 18 September.<\/p>\n

Security worries and a severe lack of funds have been noted as the reasons for the decision.<\/p>\n

Election Commissioner Fazil Ahmad Manawi said: \u201cThe Independent Election Commission, due to lack of budget, security and uncertainty and logistical challenges\u2026 has decided to conduct the [parliamentary] election on September 18, 2010.\u201d<\/p>\n
