Was misdiagnosed as Type 2 18 months ago, so it wasn’t a shock when my endoc told me with my BMI of 21 and family history of type 1 but GAD confirmed it. Glad to have the right diagnosis to be honest!

After giving up on Gliclazide which made things worse for so long and become ineffective most in it’s part, i’ve been controlling my BG with just diet and exercise for nearly a year up until xmas where i fell off the wagon big time. I thought i could let my hair down for a month or so (oops) but it sent my levels sky high, and so am now using only Metformin (500mg once a day) to help bring them back down again which seems to be working well and i’m back on track.

However, My question is, does anyone know much about links between ketones & exercise and/or Metformin?
Exercise is a massive part of my control, and i’ve noticed ketones (1-3) in my tests straight after i exercise (1 hour or so from point of eating breakfast). I check my BG and they’re fine like under 7.
If i leave it for an hour or so after breakfast before i exercise and also eat more carbs it doesn’t seem to happen so much. But this means i can’t grab that spike before it happens..then find it harder to control my BG later in the day.. seems a no win situation right now  high BG or high ketones. Keytones are not present before i exercise and they always disappear after 90 mins or so, but it’s becoming a little regular- should i be worried about this.. Any suggestions? Thanks to all

Hi to all here, I’ve recently been confirmed as LADA.
