Dear John is an upcoming 2010 romantic drama\/war film starring Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried and Scott Porter. Directed by Lasse Hallstr\u00f6m, and distributed by Screen Gems (a Sony Pictures company), the film is an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel of the same name<\/a>. Some of you may remember Sparks’ last novel, The Notebook.<\/p>\n

Dear John tells the story of John Tyree (Channing Tatum), a young soldier home on leave, and Savannah Curtis (Amanda Seyfried), the idealistic college student he falls in love with during her spring vacation. Over the next seven tumultuous years, the couple is separated by John\u2019s increasingly dangerous deployments. While meeting only sporadically, they stay in touch by sending a continuous stream of love letters overseas – correspondence that eventually triggers fateful consequences.<\/p>\n

The film will be released theatrically in North America on February 5, 2010 – other international release dates<\/a> can be found on the official website. It was rated PG-13 by the MPAA for some sensuality and violence.<\/p>\n
