{"id":233353,"date":"2010-01-26T19:05:17","date_gmt":"2010-01-27T00:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.reuters.com\/faithworld\/?p=11494"},"modified":"2010-01-26T19:05:17","modified_gmt":"2010-01-27T00:05:17","slug":"abortion-rights-issue-lobbed-into-super-bowl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/233353","title":{"rendered":"Abortion rights issue lobbed into Super Bowl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. women&#8217;s groups are urging television broadcaster CBS not to air an ad during next month&#8217;s Super Bowl football championship final because they say it has a strident anti-abortion rights message.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-11498\" title=\"USA\/\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.reuters.com\/faithworld\/files\/2010\/01\/abortion21.jpg\" alt=\"USA\/\" width=\"180\" height=\"120\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The plans to air the ad, sponsored by\u00a0the conservative Christian advocacy group <a href=\"http:\/\/www.focusonthefamily.com\/about_us.aspx\">Focus on the Family<\/a>\u00a0and featuring college football star Tim Tebow, could see the polarizing issue of abortion rights dropped squarely in the midst of the National Football League&#8217;s premier event.<\/p>\n<p>It would be the first time that Focus on the Family, a politically influential evangelical group founded by James Dobson, has bought air time during the Super Bowl &#8212; the ultimate prize of the advertising world with 30-second spots going for up to $3.2 million.
