For weeks leading up to Johnson\u2019s arrest, protesters rallied in front of the district attorney&#8217;s office asking that the fire chief be prosecuted.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Johnson was accused of beating the dog after a long feud with his neighbors over various issues in 2008. Prosecutors called the beating unprovoked. The dog had to be euthanized.
