I pulled this picture of a <br \/>\nHonda-Life (kei-car in Japan) (courtesy Businessworld &#8211; they have copyright) and I&#8217;m not sure why they don&#8217;t try to produce it here , a la Maruti which fits kei-cars with 1.1 Litre engines and sells them (I know, my wife has one such !). I&#8217;m sure Honda kei-cars rock, and would make a lot of sense in India.
