{"id":236414,"date":"2010-01-27T11:00:10","date_gmt":"2010-01-27T16:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chicagopressrelease.com\/?p=13818"},"modified":"2010-01-27T11:00:10","modified_gmt":"2010-01-27T16:00:10","slug":"illinois-department-of-insurance-revokes-license-of-insurance-agent-insurance-agency-for-auto-insurance-scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/236414","title":{"rendered":"Illinois Department of Insurance revokes license of insurance agent, insurance agency for auto insurance scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Department of insurance also imposes $100,000 fine<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-13921\" title=\"auto-car-insurance\" src=\"http:\/\/chicagopressrelease.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/auto-car-insurance-255x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"255\" height=\"300\" \/>CHICAGO \u2013- The Illinois Department of Insurance has issued an Order against Daniel Martin Deitz of Bloomingdale and his Schaumburg-based agency Danny Martin CLU and Associates (collectively \u201cMartin\u201d) for distributing fraudulent letters on stationary falsely appearing to be that of the Department.<\/p>\n<p>Martin\u2019s letters misled his current or former clients to believe their automobile insurance policies had expired and their driving licenses would be suspended unless they met certain insurance requirements.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2009, the Department learned that some Illinois residents had received letters printed on Martin\u2019s fake Department letterhead advising recipients that their \u201cautomobile insurance policy is cancelled\u201d and that their \u201cDriver\u2019s License and\/or License Plates will be suspended within 10 days from receipt of this letter.\u201d <span id=\"more-13818\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Department immediately launched an investigation and issued a Consumer Alert to ensure consumers knew the letters were fraudulent.<\/p>\n<p>The Department quickly traced the fraudulent letters to Martin, who eventually confessed to creating and distributing the letters and to impersonating a public official.<\/p>\n<p>Martin also provided the Department with a list of some consumers to whom the fraudulent letters were mailed.<\/p>\n<p>The Department immediately ordered Martin to cease and desist his unlawful conduct.\u00a0 On Jan. 21, 2010, the Department revoked his Illinois insurance producer license and his insurance agency\u2019s business entity license, and imposed a $100,000 fine \u2013 the maximum penalties allowed under Illinois law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Department works hard each day to protect consumers from individuals and companies engaged in deceptive insurance practices,\u201d said Michael T.
