Toyota announced earlier this week that it expects its global auto sales to increase 6 percent in 2010<\/a>, hoping to maintain its lead over Volkswagen and General Motors as the world’s biggest automaker. However, around eight years from now, Volkswagen AG’s CEO Martin Winterkorn believes his company will become the worlds biggest automaker, outpacing Toyota and General Motors.<\/p>\n

Winterkorn predicts that the\u00a0group\u2019s seven car marquees – VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat, Lamborghini, Bentley and Bugatti – will together account for more than 10 million car sales a year by 2018. He said that the company plans on revealing\u00a060 \u201cnew models and new model revisions\u201d this year alone.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Winterkorn said that half of the new models will wear Volkswagen badges, including the new Passat, Jetta, Phaeton, Touran and others. Audi has plans to reveal the new\u00a0A1, A6, A8 and A7.<\/p>\n
