\nHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday floated the idea of a
\ntwo-track plan for health care reform\u00a0\u2014 with Congress pursuing
\neasier-to-pass incremental changes now and comprehensive reform later, according to Politico<\/em><\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cWe believe that it\u2019s possible to have comprehensive health care reform
\nas we go forward, but at the same time, it can be on another track
\nwhere some things can just be passed outside of that legislation, and
\nwe\u2019ll be doing both,\u201d Pelosi said in an interview.\n<\/p>\n

\nAsked whether piecemeal changes could come before comprehensive reform,
\nPelosi said: \u201cSome may. It just depends on how long it takes for the
\ncomprehensive to go. But it doesn\u2019t mean that the comprehensive isn\u2019t
\nmoving. It is essential. If everyone loved their health insurance in
\nthe country \u2014 and you know they don\u2019t \u2014 we would still have to do this
\nfor financial reasons.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n\t\u201cWe have to get it done,\u201d the speaker said. \u201cWhat the process is
\n\tdoesn\u2019t matter. The outcome is what is important, and what it means to
\n\tworking families in America.\u201d\n\t<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nPelosi told Politico<\/em> that ramming the existing Senate bill through the House is not an option.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere is no support in my caucus in the present form, at this time,
\n\tfor the Senate bill,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t see that as an option. But I
\n\tdo think that we\u2019re in range to make some improvements in it that will
\n\tmake it more affordable for the middle class, which is essential. Hold
\n\tthe insurance companies more accountable. Those two things are
\n\tessential to us.\u201d\n\t<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
