This is a permanent position, based in Orkney.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">As Engineering Technician, you will provide technician level engineering support and will be required to work alongside a number of sub-contractor personnel who conduct <br \/>\noffshore survey works, high pressure systems inspection and testing, and mechanical and electrical plant operational activities. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">Candidates for this role will have the following qualifications and key experience: <br \/>\nHNC or equivalent in mechanical\/electrical engineering.<br \/>\nSpecific recognised qualification (academic or vocational) in control instrumentation is desirable.<br \/>\nSubstantial post-education experience in process, electrical generation, offshore oil and gas or similar industry. <br \/>\nWorking with instrumentation and measurement systems.<br \/>\nExperience with HV electrical systems and formal Quality Assurance schemes are desirable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">Responsibilities:<br \/>\nWorking within a small team the Engineering Technician will in general be responsible for the following:<br \/>\nAssist in maintaining availability and proper functioning of all mechanical and electrical plant equipment. <br \/>\nAssist in the safe running of the site by following and further developing safe working practices. <br \/>\nPrepare method statements and risk assessment documentation for approval by the Operations Manager. <br \/>\nEnsure data collection and archiving is correctly carried out as directed by the Operations Manger.<br \/>\nProvide out of hours cover in response to system condition monitoring.<br \/>\nAct as company representative for inshore survey and maintenance activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">Skills &amp; Knowledge:<br \/>\nGood numeracy and written communication. <br \/>\nComputer literacy and familiarity with IT hardware. <br \/>\nPractical experience of electrical\/mechanical maintenance operations.<br \/>\nKnowledge of instrumentation and measurement systems. <br \/>\nFamiliarity with electrical switching operations. <br \/>\nKnowledge of small vessel\/workboat operations and associated marine regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">Personal Attributes:<br \/>\nA team player who is self-motivated and solutions driven.<br \/>\nPositive bias towards renewable forms of energy. <br \/>\nA degree of fitness associated with outdoor working and\/or the marine environment. <br \/>\nDemonstrable willingness to learn in the course of the job. <br \/>\nPersonal aptitude for outdoor life and liking for marine activity.<br \/>\nSome periods of lone working required without close supervision.<br \/>\nSome overseas travel may be required with reasonable duration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">The salary for this role is negotiable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">To apply for the Engineering Technician position, please forward your current CV, quoting reference number 63700.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Orkney Islands, Orion Group Our Client has a vacancy for an Engineering Technician.
