Yes, that&#8217;s four cents per penny, and even more than the U.S. Mint pays <a href=\"http:\/\/consumerist.com\/2008\/02\/it-costs-134-million-to-make-80-million-in-pennies.html\">to make real pennies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You buy this toy to teach your kids the value of money, and pay four times the going rate for pennies,&#8221; mused our tipster Mark. To be fair, other play coin denominations cost <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningresources.com\/product\/teachers\/shop+by+category\/manipulatives\/math\/time+-+money\/play+money+in+bulk-+quarters.do?search=basic&#038;keyword=quarters&#038;sortby=bestSellers&#038;page=1&#038;\">about the same<\/a>, but it&#8217;s still cheaper in the end to give your kids real pennies.
