{"id":247704,"date":"2010-01-29T12:21:00","date_gmt":"2010-01-29T17:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3087194156628161158.post-1997248618252906813"},"modified":"2010-01-29T13:17:43","modified_gmt":"2010-01-29T18:17:43","slug":"business-insurance-com-buffett-holds-option-to-boost-munich-re-stake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/247704","title":{"rendered":"BUSINESS INSURANCE.COM: Buffett holds option to boost Munich Re stake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- AddThis Button BEGIN -->Posted On: Jan. 29, 2010 11:14  AM CENTRAL   <\/p>\n<div class=\"Byline\">Michael Bradford<\/div>\n<p class=\"first\">MUNICH\u2014Warren Buffett\u2019s investment in Munich Reinsurance Co. includes options that could push his stake in the German reinsurer to more than 5%.<\/p>\n<p>Munich Re earlier this week revealed that Mr. Buffett, the billionaire investor who controls Berkshire Hathaway Inc., had increased his direct and indirect stake in Munich Re. In a statement released Thursday, Munich Re said Berkshire\u2019s stake in the reinsurer is 3.084%, which is slightly higher than it previously announced. In addition, Munich Re revealed that Mr. Buffett holds financial instruments granting him the right to purchase another 1.945% in Munich Re and bring its ownership to 5.029%.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise date on those options is March 11, according to Munich Re.<\/p>\n<p>The options add to Berkshire Hathaway\u2019s already significant investment in the reinsurance market.
